Q: What instruments do you teach?
A: You can find a list of what is currently available here - 'List all Tuition'.
Q: How do I enrol at DSM?
A: To enrol
a) make an appointment to meet with us at the school via 'Contact Us'

Q: What age does my child have to be to enrol in your school?
A: We have several group class programmes for preschoolers and upwards - See 'Pre-Instrumental Music'.
Depending on the child, some are ready for individual lessons as early as age six, and most are ready at the age of seven.
Q: For a young child, what instrument would be best to start off with?
A: It depends on the child's interest. Violin, Piano, drums, tin whistle and guitar are options. Piano is the easiest instrument to sound good right from the beginning, lowering frustration levels for the student and it also creates a good basis for sight reading and theory.
Q: Do you teach adult beginners?
A: Yes! We teach students of all ages. 'Adult Lessons'. We have many adult beginners currently enroled at DSM. We also teach adult advanced students. Grade exam preparation (optional) is available for all instruments.
Q: What styles/genres of music do you teach?
A: We teach all styles/genres of music.
Q: What exams do you offer?
Q: Why do exams?
A: Doing an exam allows the teacher; parent and student to monitor his/her progress. It also allows you to set realistic goals of achievement
for the student to work towards.
Q: How long does it take to learn an instrument?
A: Depending on how much time you have might affect your progress. The more you practice, the quicker your progress. In general it takes 3-4 months for basics in any given instrument.
Q: Do I need my own instrument for lessons and classes?
A: Yes, you will need your own instrument. Our instructors can assist you in finding the right instrument to fit your needs and budget. Just ask!
